MANILA – The Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday reported 437 new recoveries from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), bringing the total recovered patients to 273,723.
In its latest case bulletin, the DOH also reported 2,825 new Covid-19 infections, bringing the total active cases to 49,989.
Of the active cases, 85.9 percent are mild, 9.4 percent are asymptomatic, 1.5 percent are severe, and 3.3 percent are in critical condition.
The majority of the newly-confirmed cases were from the National Capital Region with 1,031, the provinces of Cavite with 243, Batangas with 238, Bulacan with 173, and Rizal with 159 infections.
Meanwhile, the overall tally of Covid-19 cases in the country has reached 329,637 since the health crisis broke out, with the death toll higher by 60 at 5,925.
Of the 60 deaths, 26 occurred in October (43 percent), 20 in September (33 percent), six in August (10 percent), and eight in July (13 percent).
“About 21 duplicates were removed from the total case count, and of these, 13 were recovered cases. Moreover, 14 cases previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” the DOH said.
As of Tuesday, the 107 licensed reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) laboratories and 33 licensed GeneXpert laboratories conducted a total of 3,737,871 tests nationwide.
The DOH said it has 20,600 total bed capacity dedicated to Covid-19 patients.
Occupied are about 46 percent of 1,900 intensive care unit beds; 44 percent of 13,300 isolation beds; and 43 percent of 5,400 ward beds.
About 23 percent of 2,100 ventilators are in use.
