The cast of the Philippine remake of “Descendants of the Sun” shared heartful posts on their respective social media accounts as the filming for the series has come to an end.
In his Instagram post, Dingdong Dantes, who played Captain Lucas Manalo a.k.a Big Boss, gave a “snappy salute” to his leading lady, Jennylyn Mercado, for her “excellent and effective performance,” as he shared a photo of them doing a script reading together with director Dominic Zapata.
“Today, we finished our taping for DotsPH, and we’re set to bring back fresh episodes soon,” the actor said.
He posted another photo of his boots he had been wearing for almost a year, saying, “it is time to loosen these laces to make way for the next journey.”
Also posting their script reading photo, Mercado, or Dr. Maxine dela Cruz in the series, thanked Zapata and Dantes for keeping her motivated, as well as the staff and crew whose hard work also made the show possible.
“I have nothing but love and gratitude,” she wrote.

The actress also gave appreciation to all frontliners whom, she said, “served as my inspiration” as she gave life to her role.
Rocco Nacino, who played Sergeant Diego Ramos a.k.a Wolf, shared how he got teary-eyed taking off his character’s soldier uniform.
“Thank you Wolf, talagang minahal ko ang pagganap sa character mo, dahil sayo kaya ako naging isang Navy Reservist (I really loved portraying your character, because of you I become a Navy Reservist),” he said.
“The tears weren’t for the last taping day, it was all for the blessings that came because of the show. Now we sit back and wait, sabik ako makita ang produkto ng pinaghirapan namin ng isang taon (I’m excited to see the fruit of our hard work for a year),” he continued.
The South Korean series was released in 2016, with Song Joong-ki, Song Hye-kyo, Jin Goo, and Kim Ji-won as the main characters.
