MANILA – The Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) and its attached agencies have recorded a total of 101 confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases as of Wednesday.

Data from the PCOO as of 9:10 a.m. (Wednesday) showed that of the 101 cases, 78 were logged as active cases, 20 were recoveries and three deaths.

No new cases were recorded at the National Printing Office, but it still tops the tally with 32 active cases, followed by PCOO proper with 31 cases.

APO Production Unit has 11 cases; Radio-TV Malacañang has nine, and PTV-4 has seven.

The Philippine Information Agency has six cases; the News and Information Bureau has three, and the Bureau of Broadcast Services has two.

The Bureau of Communication Services and Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation remain free from Covid-19.

Some of the employees got infected “while performing their duties to the public”, according to PCOO Secretary Martin Andanar.

Andanar said employees of both PCOO and its attached agencies who have had contact with positive patients are undergoing reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) testing.

He said a Covid-19 Response Team that has been formed coordinate all of the office’s efforts on contact tracing, testing, monitoring, and isolation/quarantine

Necessary assistance and support to the family of infected employees have been given, he added.

PCOO and its attached agencies currently adopt a work-from-home arrangement.

The New Executive Building in Malacañan Palace, which houses PCOO, is currently on lockdown. RTVM and the NPO in Quezon City also remain closed.

Metro Manila and nearby provinces are currently under a modified enhanced community quarantine until August 18.

As of August 11, total cases in the country have reached 139,538, including 2,312 deaths and 68,432 recoveries.
