Number of Filipinos overseas with coronavirus climbs to 8,679

MANILA – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported on Sunday that 50 more Filipinos abroad got infected with the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), bringing the total number to 8,679.

In its case bulletin, the DFA said the additional cases are from Europe and the Middle East.

The DFA also reported one new recovered case which brings the total number of recoveries to 5,201.

Also, 14 new deaths were recorded from Asia and the Pacific and the Middle East, bringing the total number to 577.

Meanwhile, a total of 2,901 Filipinos abroad are still undergoing treatment for the viral infection.

“Only four countries across three main geographic regions reported today and no new reports were received by the DFA from the Americas,” the DFA said.
