As several comedy bars bow down to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) by closing down, Vice Ganda, confessed that he could not imagine what it is like to lose all of these establishments.

In “It’s Showtime” on Thursday, Vice traced back his roots as a contestant in the noontime show revealed working for the comedy bar Music Box, which the unkabogable star regarded as a “pioneer comedy bar.”

Bukas pa (Is it still open)?” This was Vice’s instant question after the reveal, concerned for the establishment just after Allan K’s comedy bars Zirkoh and Klownz closed permanent due to incoming bankruptcy.

Hoping for Music Box to not follow next, Vice expressed, “At tsaka alam mo talagang nakakalungkot kasi sa sitwasyon ngayon, walang choice ‘yung mga comedy bars kundi magsara (And you know, this situation now is really saddening, that comedy bars have no choice but just to close.”

Mentioning other leading comedy bars like Laffline and Punchline that are currently closed too due to the virus’s impact, Vice said that a lot of comedians lost jobs.

At tsaka ano ‘yung legacy ng comedy bar ‘yung parang ‘di ko ma-imagine na mawawala na totally ang comedy bar sa lipunan (And also the legacy of comedy bars. I cannot imagine a world without comedy bars),” he added,

In line with the current topic, Vice also shared that different comedians are trying to spread some laughs and good vibes online.

Serbisyo ‘yung ginagawa nila eh na napapatawa nila ‘yung viewers online. Malaking bagay ‘yun ngayon na makapagbigay ka ng ngiti. (They are providing service by making viewers online laugh. Bringing smiles today is really important),” he said.

Before his rise to stardom, Vice was a stand-up comedian, which contributed greatly to how he delivered jokes on television and in films he starred in.
