17 more OFs contract Covid-19; total now 6,091

MANILA — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Thursday recorded 17 more overseas Filipinos (OFs) who contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), raising the overall tally to 6,091.

As of this posting, Middle East/Africa has the most number of confirmed cases at 3,926, followed by Europe with 912, the Americas with 684, and the Asia Pacific with 569.

Meanwhile, the DFA reported one new recovery and six new fatalities, bringing the total number to 2,843 and 472, respectively.

The active cases are concentrated in the Middle East and Africa where at least 2,023 are still undergoing treatment. The total number currently stands at 2,776.

“As countries, including the Philippines, continue to transition into the “new normal”, the DFA along with its continued service and assistance to the Filipino people, whenever possible,” the DFA said.
