ANKARA – South Korea said on Tuesday the country had not seen any unusual activity in North Korea amid rumors that Kim Jong-un’s health had deteriorated.
“We have nothing to confirm and there has been no unusual activity detected in North Korea,” Yonhap News Agency quoted Blue House spokesman Kang Min-seok as saying. Blue House is the executive office and official residence of the Republic of Korea’s head of state.
Earlier, CNN reported that according to a US intelligence official, Kim’s health was “in grave danger after a surgery.”
The report came a day after Pyongyang denied US President Donald Trump’s claim of receiving a “nice note” from the supreme leader.
Speculations regarding Kim’s health, however, were rife after he skipped his grandfather’s 108th birthday celebrations on April 15.
The North Korean leader was last seen on April 11, when the state media showed him presiding over a meeting regarding the coronavirus situation in the country.
Information on the number of Covid-19 cases and deaths in the democratic people’s republic is not available. (Anadolu)
