Aiming to give some encouragement, Filipina singer Yeng Constantino composed a song dedicated to all medical front liners who are putting their lives at stake to give assistance to every Filipinos amid the fight against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Constantino shared in an Instagram post that she made the song, titled “Kumapit,” after receiving a message from a doctor asking a request from artists to boost their spirit during these challenging times.

The singer said she had been wanting to make a video for the front liners, but she hesitated to do so due to the controversy that happened last year. It can be recalled that Constantino was put in hot waters after she ranted about a doctor from Siargao in her July vlog.

In the video, which is not existing anymore, the singer exposed the identity of the doctor and accused her of lacking concern and urgency over her husband who got injured while cliff diving.

After receiving heavy criticisms from netizens who slammed her for ‘doctor-shaming,’ Constantino issued an apology to the doctor.

But Constantino said she decided to set aside the ’embarrassment’ she was feeling and apologize again to everyone whom she may have hurt in the medical field because of her past actions.

“Sa kinakaharap po natin ngayon mas nakita ko po na ‘di matatawaran ang puso n’yo sa pagtulong. Dahil ito po ang inyong piniling propesyon kahit nakakatakot hinaharap n’yo po ang pagsubok na ito. Maraming maraming salamat po (Amid [the crisis] we are facing today, I realized that your will to help people is exceptional. Since you have chosen this profession, even though it is scary, you are still facing this challenge. Thank you very much),” she said.

“Sa pagninilay-nilay ko po sa sitwasyon natin ngayon nakasulat po ako ng kanta na sana po ay maka-encourage sainyo pati na rin po sa marami pang nawawalan ng loob. Maraming salamat po! Saludo po kami sa inyong sakripisyo. ‘Wag po kayo bumitaw. Kailangan po namin kayo (As I pondered on our current situation, I was able to write a song, hoping that it will give you encouragement as well as to those who are losing their faith. We salute your sacrifices. Do not give up. We need you),” she continued.

Constantino, meanwhile, encouraged everyone to continue praying and helping each other.

“Babangon muli ang Pinas! Kaya natin ‘to. Kasama natin ang Panginoon (The Philippines will rise again! We can do this. The Lord is with us),” she said.

President Rodrigo Duterte earlier signed Proclamation No. 929, placing the country under a state calamity for six months, amid the rising number of coronavirus cases.
