Actress Iza Calzado took to Instagram on Wednesday, March 25, to disclose that she’s currently hospitalized due to pneumonia and was also tested for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Sharing a photo of herself in a hospital gown while wearing an oxygen mask, Iza said she has been waiting for the result of her test to come out.

Although she described what she’s currently going through as a “challenging time” for her, she said that “it cannot compare to the frontliners who have cared for me and to whom I am so grateful.”

“My heart goes out to everyone in these trying times, especially those who risk their lives every day to care for their loved ones,” she continued.

The 37-year-old actress asked the public to join her in praying for “those who are currently sick and their loved ones, for every person struggling to cope in these tough times,” especially those health workers who play a big role in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.

Despite her situation, Iza uplifts herself by saying, “I count this time as an opportunity to be kind. To be a source of love and light. With the grace of God, I can fight this and we all fight this together.”

Iza did not mention when she first showed symptoms of pneumonia nor what hospital she was confined at.

Her disclosure came after another local actor, Christopher de Leon, confirmed that he tested positive for the coronavirus. He has been discharged from the hospital, according to his wife, actress Sandy Andolong, on March 24.

Iza was part of the upcoming ABS-CBN drama “Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin,” along with Jodi Sta. Maria, Sam Milby, and Maricel Soriano. It was scheduled for a March 23 debut but was postponed due to the pandemic.
