With all these cancellations of entertainment events with the public being encouraged to stay at home in an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 virus, National Artist for Music Ryan Cayabyab has found a way to give people a bit of a breather from all these alarming things happening both in and outside the country.

On Wednesday, Cayabyab went live on Facebook to announce that he, along with other local artists, will be doing a free concert series via Facebook live, which they called as “Bayanihan, Musikahan.”

This project, he said, aims not only to entertain the people while an enhanced community quarantine is being implemented but also to raise funds for the “most vulnerable” sector of society affected by the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.

Alam natin na tayo, kayong nanonood ng ito, FB Live, we’re all relaxed in our houses, our respective homes, or nakakanuod kayo sa telepono niyo, pero mas maraming tao, alam niyo rin ‘yon, na nangangailangan ng tulong (We all know that we, those who are watching this FB live, we’re all relaxed in our houses, our respective homes, or you’re able to watch in your phones, but you also know that there are a lot of people who need help),” he said.

Sila ‘yung nagtra-trabaho araw-araw para lang may kitain, para may maihain na pagkain sa kanilang hapag-kainan (They are the ones who need to work every day so they can earn money, to provide food on their tables),” he added.

Cayabyab said the participating artists will be posting their live performances on their respective social media accounts. This will officially kick off on Monday, March 23.

According to the music veteran, among the artists who agreed to take part in the “Bayanihan, Musikahan” series were Ice Seguerra, Raymond Lauchengco, Christian Bautista, Cherie Gil, Ebe Dancel, Agot Isidro, Lea Salonga, Chito Miranda, Nyoy Volante, The Company, Karylle, Yael Yuzon, Jett Pangan, Zsazsa Padilla, Kakai Bautista, Jim Paredes, Gian Magdangal, Juris Fernandez, Dingdong Avanzado, Aicelle Santos, Martin Nievera, Jed Madela, Mark Bautista, and Morisette Amon, among others.

Along with his announcement, Cayabyab serenaded his audience with the songs requested by them such as “Tuwing Umuulan,” “Araw Gabi,” and “Kahit Ika’y Panaginip Lang.”

Aside from Cayabyab, other international artists also took to social media to entertain their fans with their live performances, including John Legend, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, and Pink.
