There is probably something satisfying in hearing characters deliver our everyday curses in the most malutong way, knowing that sometimes it’s these bad words that can just embody the stress we feel (and maybe because it isn’t censored by television laws). Bonus points if it’s done in a foreign land. Oh and maybe for a television show too, with the crisp still preserved.
That’s why this clip in the US sitcom “Superstore” is a big hit for netizens when two characters just started arguing with Filipino swear words flowering their mouths.
Enter Mateo Liwanag (played by Fil-Am actor Nico Santos) and Marcus White (portrayed by Jon Barinholtz), workers at the fictional Missouri store Cloud 9.
In the fifth season’s 13th episode entitled “Favoritism,” amidst the English-speaking community, Mateo blurted out “Tarant*** ka talaga!” at Marcus during a work evaluation.
Now the audience may already be in shock, but it soon escalates when Marcus gasped and started responding with, “Narinig ko ‘yon, gag*!”

That didn’t stop yet when Marcus continued, “Kapal ng mukha mo, alam kong ikaw kumuha ng gamit ko, tumigil ka na!”
This scene earned nods and laughter from several Filipinos and the show’s Twitter even dubbed it as “everything we never knew we needed.”
Superstore follows the story of Cloud 9’s store number 1217 employees. Stars include America Ferrera, Lauren Ash, Colton Dunn, Nichole Boom, Mark McKinney, and Kaliko Kauahi.
