While it is the utmost priority to save human lives after the eruption of Taal Volcano, what about the animals who are also part of the family?
Actress Heart Evangelista-Escudero, known animal welfare advocate, emphasizes this on an Instagram post on Wednesday, January 16, when she shares some photos of her comforting some of the puppies rescued by the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS).
With kind hands rubbing on the little dog and a pair of arms giving them a hug, Heart captions her post with, “Heartbreaking yet heartwarming to be able to see these dogs that were rescued from Taal.”
She thanks the organization for its efforts of “bringing them to safety” as PAWS dedicated the past days in rescuing pets and animals that were left amidst the evacuation in the island.
“There are still so many dogs, cows, and other livestock that need our love,” she continues.
Heart takes this opportunity to share to her 4.8 million followers, and to whoever her post manages to reach, to donate to PAWS.
“For those of you who want to help, the PAWS team will be needing cow feed, chicken feed, dog food, cat food, bottles of water, and pet bowls in order to help our furry friends,” she wrote.

It was on Sunday, January 12, when Taal Volcano had a phreatic eruption which escalated to magmatic eruptions on Monday. Batangas was placed under a state of calamity on Monday while the volcano remains to be on Alert Level 4 as of writing.
The volcanic unrest has caused an ash blanket to fall on the surrounding areas but ash fall was reported to reach areas outside Batangas, reaching even parts of Metro Manila.
