The family of Mico Palanca on Tuesday, December 10, in a statement, said that the actor passed away. He was 41.
“We are extremely saddened and heartbroken by the sudden passing of our beloved brother, Miko Palanca. The whole family is grateful for the incredible outpour of love and support that has been coming in today,” Erica, Palanca’s sister, said in a statement posted on her Instagram story.
The actor’s family requested privacy and no further details about the actor’s death were announced as of writing.
“As of now, we would like to respectfully request for privacy as we go through this very difficult time. Again, we appreciate all the love and support — thank you so much,” the statement said.
In another Instagram story, Erica posted a personal message to her late brother along with a black and white picture of them together.
“I love you. Didn’t say it enough, but I did. I do. So much. I’m so glad I got to tell you how much I looked up to you growing up. Thank you, kuya,” she wrote.
One of the actor’s brothers, Martin Hocson, also posted a message on his Instagram story mourning his brother’s death.
“Already missing you, Kuya. Wish you didn’t go so soon. Rest easy now. I love you,” the post read.
Condolences also poured out on social media after the actor’s death. On Monday, the Film Academy of the Philippines also gave their condolences to Palanca’s sudden passing through a post on their official Facebook page.
Palanca was first known through the weekly teen-oriented show Tabing Ilog. He also appeared in Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay (2002), It Might Be You (2003) with Bea Alonzo, along with his recent starring in the television series Bagani, Ang Probinsyano and Nang Ngumiti And Langit.
