MANILA — President Rodrigo R. Duterte appointed former Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Acting Secretary Virginia Orogo as undersecretary of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR).

According to her appointment paper signed by Duterte on June 13 and released to the media on Wednesday (June 19), Orogo has been named to replace David D. Erro as undersecretary for policy, planning and research.

Orogo served as DSWD acting secretary from May 10, 2018 to Oct. 16, 2018. She was replaced by former Philippine Army chief Rolando Bautista.

Under the helm of Orogo, the DSWD committed to the lowering of the poverty incidence rate from the current 22 percent to 14 percent before the end of President Duterte’s term in 2022.

Aside from Orogo, the President also appointed Aldrin Darilag as Commission on Higher Education (CHED) commissioner to fill the post vacated by now-CHED chairman Prospero de Vera III.

Malacañang has also released the appointment papers of Aurelio Pangilinan de Leon as member of the Philippine Racing Commission, representing the Racehorse Owners’ Association.
