Twenty-seven year-old beauty queen and former Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) housemate Vickie Rushton, who was a frontrunner for one of the crowns during Binibining Pilipinas 2019, explains her stumble during the Question and Answer portion of the national pageant’s Grand Coronation Night last Sunday, June 9 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, stating that her answer fell short because there was a lack of crowd control.
In an ABS-CBN exclusive interview after the pageant, Vickie explains that she “feels like it was a missed opportunity,” saying in Filipino, “I know what to say, but someone distracted me in the audience. That’s where I got lost. Someone stood up and made a face.”
During the competition, she was asked by actor Daniel Padilla why mental health is more important than physical health. The Bacolod native responds, “Mental health is as important as physical health because of our inner being. Having self-love is important and as a woman.” She takes a couple of seconds to continue, “As a woman, I can inspire and empower the people to take care of themselves, to take care of their mind as well as their health. Because they will be as effective,” then was unable to complete her statement.
Vickie was asked if she believes she could have provided a better answer, to which she responds, “Of course. I was somehow able to prepare.”
Throughout the night, Vickie bagged six of the 13 special awards, including, Jag Denim Queen, Miss Ever Bilena, Manila Bulletin Reader’s Choice, Poten Cee Gandang Palaban, Miss World Balance, and Bb. Cream Silk.
Other than becoming a housemate for Pinoy Big Brother: All In and her bid in the recently concluded prestigious competition, Vickie was also crowned Mutya ng Pilipinas 2011 and Binibining Pilipinas 2018 first runner-up.
