MANILA — Court of Appeals (CA) Associate Justice Henri Jean-Paul Inting is the latest appointee of President Rodrigo Duterte to the Supreme Court.
Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra told reporters Tuesday that the 61-year-old magistrate was chosen by the President from a shortlist of 13 names submitted by the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) for his consideration.
Inting takes the post vacated by Associate Justice Lucas Bersamin, who was appointed Chief Justice in November 2018.
He has served as corporate attorney in the National Housing Authority (NHA), public attorney at the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO), assistant Quezon City public prosecutor, before being appointed as Metropolitan Trial Court and subsequently Regional Trial Court judge.
He was appointed to the CA in October 2012.
His sister, Socorro Inting, also served as CA associate justice prior to her appointment as commissioner of the Commission on Elections in April 2018.
