MANILA — A delegation from Germany’s construction sector is arriving next week for a four-day business mission to explore opportunities in infrastructure development.

German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GPCCI) Executive Director Martin Henkelmann said in an interview that representatives from the six German companies are set to meet local businessmen, as well as public officials, as part of scoping out opportunities in the country.

The German construction executives represent AuCom MCS GmbH & Co. KG, Hauff Technik GmbH & Co. KG, Herrenknecht AG, MULAG Fahrzeugwerk Heinz Woessner GmbH & Co. KG, and ThyssenKrupp AG. All companies have yet to establish a presence in the Philippines, Henkelmann said.

He noted that the government’s Build Build Build Program has resounded overseas, prompting the Germans to come in search of areas, where their goods or services are needed.

The administration has 75 flagship projects under its Build Build Build Program.

The GPCCI executive added that the Germans are also open to partnering with local companies in view of the robust construction push in the private sector.

In fact, data from the Philippine Statistics Authority showed that approved construction projects for the third quarter of 2018 alone increased by 17 percent. A total of 42,111 building permits were issued by the government in the January to September 2018 period alone.
