Magnitude 4.5 aftershock jolts Surigao Norte

MANILA — The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said it is not expecting aftershocks from the magnitude 4.5 quake that jolted Surigao Del Norte on Sunday.

The quake of tectonic origin struck 47 kilometers northeast of General Luna at around 11:06 a.m.

It had a depth of 6 kilometers.

According to Phivolcs, this was an aftershock of the magnitude 5.9 earthquake that jolted Surigao Del Norte last Friday, February 8.

Intensity 4 was reported in General Luna on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Phivolcs also said it is not expecting any damage from the earthquake.
