MANILA — New employment opportunities will soon be available to Filipinos in Russia, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) recently said.
DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III said he will be travelling to the host country, which initiated the talks on the possible jobs for Filipinos, next year.
“They initiated the talks. Alam mo yung Russia para din China iyan. Aging din yung mga iyan (You know Russia is just like China. They are also aging),” he said in an earlier interview.
With this, Bello noted that he will be going to Russia for the bilateral agreement during the end of first quarter or early second quarter of 2019.
“Ayoko naman pumunta doon ng February. Baka March or April, kasi di na masyado malamig (I don’t want to go there in February. Probably March or April when it is not too cold),” the DOLE chief added.
Bello noted that the possible jobs available there are for skilled workers.
“Mga skilled workers. Actually, mayroon na tayo doon (We have skilled workers. Actually, we have [skilled workers] there already),” he said.
