MANILA — San Miguel overturned an 11-point fourth quarter deficit into an 11-point victory against TNT, 107-96, in their Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Governors’ Cup clash at the Calasiao Sports Complex in Pangasinan on Saturday night.
Down 78-89 with 8:45 left, the Beermen went on a 23-3 run to open a 101-92 lead over the KaTropa with 1:23 left.
Jericho Cruz and Marqus Blakely scored on back-to-back layups to cut the lead down to five with 50 seconds left, but Kevin Murphy buried a dagger triple in the next play even as Chris Standhardinger scored the game’s last three points to seal the SMB win.
Murphy flirted with a triple-double after amassing 27 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists with one steal to lead the Beermen, who barged into the .500 mark at 4-4, overtaking the KaTropa, who fell to 4-5.
Standhardinger also had a double-double of 21 points and 13 rebounds with two assists, two blocks, and one steal.
Blakely came close to a triple-double after tallying 26 points, 18 rebounds, and eight assists with one steal and one block for the KaTropa.
