Boxing champion Manny Pacquiao has cleared the air with the promotional company Top Rank after announcing on his social media that he will pursue legal charges for never being paid for his fight against Lucas Matthysse last July 15.
In a new Instagram post published on Wednesday, September 12, Pacquiao shared, “My post from the other day was a result of miscommunication between my Team and Top Rank. Everything has been clarified. I would like to thank Bob and Top Rank for helping guide my career and for the many great years of working together. We have accomplished so many amazing things together.”
Pacquiao has also chosen to take down the caption on his previous photo posted on September 10 which initially stated, “I am initiating legal proceedings against Top Rank and all other parties based on the non-payment and attempts to restrict my future rights.”
It is reported that Top Rank promoter Bob Arum is set to pay Manny Pacquiao a total 85% of the fight’s earnings, which was previously held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The promotion did not deny owing Pacquiao the money. In a statement to ESPN, he said, “We read the Instagram post and [Top Rank attorney] Harrison [Whitman] handled it with Pacquiao’s attorney, and it looks like everything will be resolved.”
Manny Pacquiao and Top Rank have had a long relationship, successfully working together on the boxer’s previous fights with Oscar De La Hoya, Juan Manuel Marquez, Miguel Cotto, Shane Mosley, and Ricky Hatton. It is reported that Top Rank will also host Pacquiao’s upcoming fight in December, where his probably opponents are Amir Khan and Kell Brooks.
