Palace to investigate reports saying China ordered PH to leave WPS

By , on August 15, 2018

The Philippine government will conduct an inquiry on the reports surfacing that Chinese militaries warned off the country’s military aircraft from flying over West Philippine Sea (WPS), Malacañang said on Monday.

This, after international news media reported that China’s military men ordered the Philippines to stop from flying over the claimed area.

“Philippine Military aircraft, I’m warning you again: Leave immediately or you will bear responsibility for all the consequences,” this was the order of the Chinese Navy according to the media report.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a Palace briefing that he has not received yet the full information on what really transpired there, but he assured that an investigation is set to be conducted.

The spokesman stressed that if the reported incident was true, “it was good news” that the Philippine pilots were not scared off and continued their flight there.

Roque added that the government will not stop in asserting the country’s sovereignty and “if need be, Filipino pilots will die for that sovereignty.”
