MANILA — Workers in the country’s services sector received the highest salaries among other major sectors as of January, latest data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) showed.
The PSA said services sector workers got an average of PHP482.60 in daily wage in January this year, the highest compared with PHP404.27 for those in the industry sector and PHP222.26 in the agriculture sector.
Although it has remained the lowest among other major sectors, agriculture workers’ average daily wage reflected a steady increase, though, from PHP210.13 in January 2017 and PHP201.55 in the same month in 2016.
The sector’s fishing and aquaculture workers received an average PHP237.90 per day, higher than those who engaged in agriculture, hunting and forestry, who got PHP221.39 daily, the PSA said.
The PSA said agriculture employed some 10.87 million people in January 2018. Of this number, 9.84 million people engaged in agriculture, hunting, and forestry, while only around 1.03 million people were into fishing and aquaculture.
