President Rodrigo Duterte warned anew policemen who commit transgressions while in service, telling them they will be his next “project” if they don’t straight up.
In a speech on Tuesday during the 68th National Security Council and 69th National Intelligence Coordinating Agency founding anniversary celebration in Pasay City, the Chief Executive said that he will fire cops involved in illegal drugs and those who take part in a “murder-for-hire” operation.
“I promise you that including uniformed personnel, do not get involved in drugs, or do murder-for-hire because I will also make you my project,” Duterte said.
The President stressed that cops should expect that they will be his next project to “neutralize or terminate” because progress in the country will never be seen if he will not do so as “nobody seems to obey the law.”
“If I will not do that, nothing will happen in the nation at this time when we are bombarded with drugs,” he said.
Moreover, Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Oscar Albayalde has the same objective as Duterte, to weed off police force involved in misconduct.
“Just as we are relentless and chilling in our war on drugs, we will also be relentless, resolute and chilling in our internal cleansing program. Relentless not only in punishing erring cops but also in plugging loopholes in our systems and procedures that may breed recalcitrant behavior in our ranks,” Albayalde said on Wednesday in Taguig City.
