The Duterte administration never stopped in defending the sovereign rights of the Philippines in its claimed waters in the South China Sea, Malacañang said.
This statement came after the latest survey conducted by Social Weather Stations (SWS) showed that four out of five Filipinos are against the government’s lack of action regarding the militarization of Beijing in the West Philippine Sea.
The current administration is ready to address every act of China that will jeopardize the rights of the country in the territory, Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said, stressing that they are just not publicizing every move.
“The government of President Rodrigo Duterte is not guilty of inaction, we are just not vocal about it but we have actions right away when we see that China is violating our sovereignty and rights,” he said in a radio interview on Monday.
The President’s spokesman agreed with “the perception that the Philippines’ interest should be defended actively,” because “in fact, the government has made non-stop efforts in fighting for these interests.”
