Majority of Filipinos are against the proposal of the administration to shift to a federal form of government, the latest research by Pulse Asia showed.
In a survey the pollster conducted from June 15 -21, they asked 1800 respondents whether or not the Philippine government’s unitary system should be changed into a federal form. From the said total of respondents, 62 percent said they are against the proposal.
Breaking down the 62 percent of disagreeing respondents, it showed that 34 percent do not want to change the form of government “now or at any other time” while the 28 percent are only opposing the proposal “now” but are open to it “sometime in the future.”
Meanwhile, 28 percent support that the Constitution should be amended “now” while 10 percent said they “don’t know/can’t say.”
