PH envoy to Kuwait suggests private discussion of OFW rescue ops

By , on May 24, 2018

The diplomatic tiff between Kuwait and Philippines brought by the latter’s rescue efforts for Filipino workers in the Gulf State has been resolved, and to publicly discuss in detail the rescue operations may not be good for the two countries as its ties has just been revived, Presidential adviser on OFW and Muslim Concerns and Special Envoy to Kuwait Abdullah Mama-o said.

Mama-o requested that such matter be discussed in an executive session after Senator Joel Villanueva opened up questions regarding the controversial video showing the rescue of the distressed Filipino workers and the Department of Foreign Affairs’ (DFA) procedures in conducting such operations.

Mama-o said, “We had been to Kuwait and I would suggest that this is a very sensitive issue and if we can take this up in an executive session, so that we would not be opening something because the two countries actually had forgotten everything. What happened in that embassy episode are the things of the past.”
