AFP ‘doing its best’ to protect West Philippine Sea

By , on May 15, 2018

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is putting its best efforts in protecting the country’s territories to preserve the rights of the Filipinos in the South China Sea.

This, amid reports that China has been conducting aggressive build-ups in the disputed sea.

The government has been slammed many times for being allegedly mum over this move of Beijing.

But AFP chief of staff General Carlito Galvez said that they are already doing their best to address this matter.

“What we are doing now, we cannot say, this is already an operational matter, but rest assured that the Armed Forces is doing its best to really assure that our territory are ours, are being protected,” Galvez said during a press briefing in Camp Aguinaldo.

Refusing to give further details on what they are up to, he just said that they “deployed one marine battalion to the north to really help us protect our sovereignty there and our rights over the seas.”
