MANILA — Women’s basketball Hall of Famer Sheryl Swoopes will visit the Philippines as a special guest of the Jr. NBA National Training Camp that will take place from May 19-20.
Swoopes will help in coaching camp participants who were chosen from the regional camps held in Bacolod, Butuan, and Makati.
Swoopes, who played in the first 12 seasons of the WNBA, starred for the Houston Comets, the team who signed her during the inaugural season of the league.
She retired from the game with four WNBA titles, six All-Star appearances, three MVP awards, and one Olympic gold medal, bringing her to the Naismith Hall of Fame in 2016 and the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame the following year.
Joining her in the national training camp is Sacramento star Willie Cauley-Stein.
Cauley-Stein was selected sixth overall by the Kings in 2015 and has been one of their top players.
The first day of the two-day camp will be held at the Don Bosco School in Makati, while the culmination, highlighted by the selection of the Jr. NBA All-Stars, will be at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall in Pasay City.
