New justice secretary to restore DOJ’s ‘dignified and respectable image’

By , on April 16, 2018

The newly appointed Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra on Monday expressed his eagerness to restore the former reputable image of the Department of Justice.

Guevarra said the DOJ’s integrity at present is “somehow corroded,” contrary to its “solid” appearance.

“Now I hate to say that our department, as well as most agencies attached to it, is suffering from a huge image problem. The imposing building remains the same but it’s somehow corroded inside. It looks solid but its structural integrity is suspect, both literally and metaphorically,” he said.

Due to this, Guevarra said that restoring the DOJ’s “dignified and respectable image” has become his “personal mission” in order to transform the agency into the cornerstone and not just a mere pillar of the country’s justice system.
