CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija — A 172-strong augmentation force has arrived here to help the Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office (NEPPO) in its intensified crime prevention efforts.

Superintendent Eliseo Tanding, Nueva Ecija police director, said Saturday that the group who arrived here on Friday would help the local police in conducting simultaneous checkpoint operations against motorcycle riding suspects (MRS) and motorcycle riding criminals (MRC).

The troops are from the Regional Mobile Force Company (RMFC) headed by Superintendent Rommel Batangan, the contingent commander.

Tanding said checkpoints were aimed at curbing motorcycle-related incidents within the province.

It could be recalled that most crimes, particularly murder, were perpetrated by riding-in-tandem criminals.

Among the most recent cases in this province were the killing of retired priest Marcelito Paez of the Diocese of San Jose in Jaen town; Mary Ann Hernandez, administrative chief of the office of Gov. Czarina Umali in Talavera town and a couple in Sta. Rosa town.

Senior Inspector Jacqueline Gahid, NEPPO information chief, said the contingents, along with the teams from the two Provincial Mobile Force Companies (PMFCs) “will extend their duty at the strategic and crime prone areas.”
