MANILA — PBA OIC Commissioner Willie Marcial has handed out a verdict on the late-game tussle between Coach Yeng Guiao and Chris Ross during the NLEX-San Miguel battle on Friday night.

In a statement on Monday, Marcial slapped Guiao with an PHP11,000 fine “for obscene gesture, use of profane language and engaging in a verbal altercation.”

Guiao was caught on camera flashing the dirty finger sign on Ross, something that he admitted as “part of the psychological warfare.”

However, Marcial said that he could not find “sufficient basis to discuss the matter of an alleged racist remark uttered by Coach Guiao.”

Ross, as relayed by Coach Leo Austria, claimed that Guiao hurled the n-word at him, something that Guiao himself denied.

Meanwhile, for the said altercation plus an earlier confrontation with Alex Mallari leading to two technical fouls that sent him off, Ross was slapped with a PHP2,600 sanction.

Marcial has yet to give out a fine on Mallari and Mike Miranda, who kicked Ross’s groin also in the fourth quarter of the said game.

Also being awaited is the OIC’s ruling about the altercation between Eric Camson and Raymond Almazan during the Kia-Rain Or Shine match on Saturday.
