Flights cancelled due to Mayon’s imminent eruption

MANILA — Several flights going to and from the Bicol Region were cancelled due to the imminent eruption of the Mayon Volcano.

Cebu Pacific announced in an advisory that the following Cebu Pacific and Cebgo flights bound for Legazpi City and Naga City Monday afternoon are cancelled:

  • DG (Cebgo) 6204 — Cebu-Legazpi
  • DG (Cebgo) 6205 — Legazpi-Cebu5J (Cebu Pacific) 327 — Manila-Legazpi
  • DG (Cebgo) 6117 — Manila-Naga
  • DG (Cebgo) 6118 — Manila-Naga

Passengers who are flying to and from Naga and Legazpi Tuesday are advised to wait for further announcements regarding their flight schedules.

For its part, Philippine Airlines (PAL) has cancelled the following flights as of 12:40 p.m.:

  • PR 2927/2928 Cebu — Legaspi-Cebu
  • PR 2965/2966 Clark — Naga-Clark

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has issued its notice to airmen (NOTAM) that the operations at the Legazi Airport was suspended effective 2:21 pm Monday (January 22) until further notice due to massive ash clouds brought by the recent eruption of Mayon Volcano.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) has raised Alert Level 4 over Mayon Volcano warning of imminent hazardous eruption within days.

The danger zone was extended to 8 kilometers from the crater of the volcano. (PNA)
