Believing in the positive outcome of President Rodrigo Duterte’s promise to take care of rebels once they lay down their arms, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana on Friday expressed support in the presidents’s promise, saying such move only shows how sincere he is.
“The president is wholeheartedly giving the NPA a chance to change and to live a decent life. His offer to accommodate members of the communist movement shows his sincerity,” Lorenzana said.
Duterte has offered homes and livelihood to every NPA fighter who resolves to live lawfully, according to Lorenzana.
Moreover, the Defense Secretary said that a number of NPAs who willingly surrendered to the government have accepted the offer and are now restarting to live normal lives.
