Chinese gov’t donates P1.15 billion for Marawi

As a manifestation of China’s alliance with the Philippines, its government has offered a donation worth P1.15 billion to help rebuild Marawi City.

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang announced on Wednesday, “The Chinese government will provide 150 million RMB Yuan of grants for the rebuilding and improvement of livelihood in Marawi to demonstrate the support of the Chinese people.”

Li said that China believes in the leadership of Duterte, adding “We have full confidence that under your leadership, Mr. President, and the leadership of your government, the rebuilding of Marawi will be completed at — in a very early date and the local people will embrace even better life.”

Meanwhile, Duterte expressed his gratitude to China, and promised Li that he will return to Beijing the rifle they gave to the Philippines that was used to kill Isnilon Hapilon, a top terrorist leader in the Philippines, as a symbol of China’s assistance to the country especially during the critical stage in the war in Marawi.
