Aquino denies ties in destabilization plot against Duterte

By , on December 22, 2017

Former president Benigno Aquino III dismissed allegations that he is involved in a destabilization plot against President Rodrigo Duterte.

During the celebration of the 85th birthday of his late father, former senator Benigno Aquino Jr. at the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque, Aquino told reporters, “If things aren’t going right, if promises are not fulfilled, or if words are not kept – these are what create dissatisfaction, and it’s not coming from us. Maybe they should look around them.”

Aquino said he does not see the need for him to initiate actions that would oppose the possibility of Duterte declaring a revolutionary government and stressed that he does not see the necessity for the chief executive to do so.

If the current system and its institutions could not function effectively anymore, Aquino said that is the only time that he might consider supporting a revolutionary government.

Aquino said that his stand has to do what he thinks is right based on his Catholic faith and on the values imparted to him by his parents and from what he learned in school.
