By , on December 22, 2017

Fifty percent of Filipinos approve a government in which supreme power is concentrated in the hands of a strong leader, a recent Pew Research Center survey showed.

The Pew survey asked, “Would a system in which a strong leader can make decisions without interference from parliament or the courts be a good or bad way of governing this country?”

Forty percent of Filipinos think that the idea is “total bad,” just 3 percent down of the 50 percent who think that it is “total good” while 21 percent think it is “very good.”

Moreover, Filipinos who participated in the survey are mostly contented with the way democracy is working in the country as there are 69% of Filipinos say that they are satisfied with it while only 31 percent said otherwise.

The survey was conducted on February 16 to May 8, 2017.
