Malacañang to wait and see Faeldon’s fate

By , on December 13, 2017

After Bureau of Customs (BOC) chief Nicanor Faeldon resigned due to the surfacing of the P6.4 billion drug smuggling controversy in the BOC under his governance, President Rodrigo Duterte couldn’t just let go of a man whom he believes to be honest.

Therefore, the former chiefs fate is yet to be decided whether he’ll have a new place in the government or he’ll be totally out of service.

Presidential spokesman Ernesto Abella said, “We don’t know yet where he would be assigned specifically. But in the statements of the president, he said he has trust in Faeldon.”

Abella added, “However. Let us see how will it totally unfold, where he would be assigned or what his fate would be.”

Meanwhile, despite the president’s full trust in the former BOC chief, Senator Panfilo Lacson’s recent blow against Faeldon, claiming that the latter is involved in the corruption on BOC, according to Abella will have its proper investigation.

“Of course, the president will support all the investigations and at this stage since the inquiries have started it is best that we be not seen to be interfering in anyway at all,” he said.

When asked for further comments, the presidential spokesman said that “it would be best to not make any comments regarding the matter while an investigation is ongoing.”
