The photograph of Australian Secret Intelligence Service Director general Nicholas Peter “Nick” Warner and Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte doing the latter’s signature fist-pump pose drew a lot of criticisms as according to some it seems to indicate Warner’s support on President Duterte’s “bloody drug war.”
Manager of campaigns for Amnesty International Australia, Michael Hayworth reminded his country’s government to be watchful as it might unknowingly display support in the Philippines’ “bloodshed and abuse that has become a hallmark of the Duterte regime.”
Meanwhile, Australia’s foreign minister Julie Bishop said that it isn’t Warner’s idea to do the fist-pump pose with Duterte adding that Warner simply responded to the request of the Philippine president during the photo session at Malacañang on Tuesday.
