MANILA — President Rodrigo Duterte has designated Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea as officer-in-charge of the government while the Chief Executive is in Vietnam from Wednesday to Saturday for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit.
The directive was made through Special Order 993, which the President signed Tuesday.
Duterte is scheduled to leave Wednesday afternoon for Da Nang, Vietnam.
“To ensure continuity of government service, it is necessary to designate an Officer-In-Charge (OIC) to take care of the day-to-day operations in the Office of the President and oversee the general administration of the Executive Department,” the order reads. “All acts of the Executive Secretary for and in behalf of the President pursuant to this Order shall be deemed acts of the President, unless disapproved or reprobated by the President.” (PNA)
