Former veteran actor Redmond Christopher Fernandez Domingo known as Cogie Domingo is expected to gain his freedom after Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency allowed him to post bail.
Domingo was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation carried out by PDEA Region 4-A at President’s Avenue in BF Homes on Friday, October 27.
Aside from the 32-year-old actor, Almira Bautista and Francis Lim, believed to be Domingo’s drug supplier, were also arrested.
The operatives said that their main target was Francis Lim but they also caught Domingo and his wife during the operation. A hard case with 20 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu was found inside the luxury car of Domingo.
Domingo was immediately brought to Camp Vicente Lim in Calamba Laguna, and underwent booking procedure and drug test but the result has not yet been released.
During the inquest proceedings, Parañaque Prosecutor’s Office recommended a P200,000 bail for Domingo and a 100,000 for the two.
Domingo is facing the charges of possession and use of illegal drugs in violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The 32-year-old actor denied all accusations against him. He insisted that his arrest was a set-up and the discovered substance was not his.
“Hindi ko po alam kung ano po yung ebidensiya laban sa akin and sa totoo po niyan e kumakain lang po kami ng dinner at nagulat na lang po ako na nagkaroon po ng mga pulis dun at nagkaroon ng hulihan,” [I don’t know what is their evidence against me and actually we were just having our dinner and I was shocked that there are police and they arrested us],” Domingo said in an interview.
“Yes I tried (using drugs) before and there were those times but it’s a long time ago… I’m not using drugs now,” he added.
