Raquel Pempengco, bursting with anger, said that she plans to file a libel complaint against his son, Jake Zyrus, and the production team behind ABS-CBN’s drama anthology Maalaala mo kaya (MMK) after the international singer shared his life story on MMK’s August 26 episode entitled ‘Jumper.’
“Iparating mo na lang sana na pinag-iisipan kong magsampa ng kaso [ng libelo] dahil sa pagpapalabas ng istorya ng buhay ko na hindi nila ako kinunsulta.[I am now thinking to file a libel complaint because you aired my life story without consulting me],” Pempengco said in a statement exclusively released to Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP).
Mrs. Pempengco said that she already talked with a lawyer to help her with the case and she is planning to file the complaint this Sunday.
“Kasama na rin sa demanda ang anak ko na si CHARMAINE CLARICE RELUCIO PEMPENGCO [I will also file a complaint against my ‘daughter’ Charmaine Clarice Relucio Pempengco],” she added.
Jake’s mother belied the portrayal of her character projected in the TV drama. She said, the story that has been shown was all fabricated and not true.
“Sobrang nasira ang kredibilidad ko bilang tao at bilang ina, kulang na lang sana ay pinatay na ako ni Charice [My credibility as a human and as a mother was destroyed, she should have killed me instead].”
She added, “Maraming makakapagpatunay na malayo sa katotohanan ang istoryang inilahad at inilabas [I have witnesses that could testify that the story that has been shown was far from the truth.”]
The heartwarming episode touched the hearts of netizens on Sunday night. In fact, #MMKJakeZyrus trended online, showing how much televiewers supported Zyrus.
Meanwhile, Zyrus’s grandmother, Thess Pineda, said the story that was shown on MMK is all true.
“MABUTI KA PA NGA [CHARICE] BINUHAY MO AT NAPAKAIN MO. PINADAMA MONG SARAP SA BUHAY SA KANYA [Atleast you Charice, you supported us, you allowed your mother to experience a good life.]” Pineda said.
As of press time, Zyrus hasn’t released any statement yet regarding the tirades of her mother.
