“I don’t know if he’s willing to work again or not. I still haven’t thought about it,” President Rodrigo Duterte said during the press briefing in Fort Bonifacio.
This was the answer of President Duterte when he was asked on Monday if there’s any available post for the former Customs Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon.
Duterte said that he advised Faeldon to first take his leave and get married, “Wala pa rin akong naisip. Magbakasyon ka muna. Bakasyon ka muna. Magpakasal ka muna. Hindi natuloy ‘yung last time. Tapos mag-usap tayo uli (I haven’t thought of anything yet. Take a vacation first. Get married. It did not push through last time, then let’s talk again).”
He added, “The reason why it took me time because Congress was investigating or still investigating it. I would have wanted to wait out of respect for the man. He resigned thrice. He offered to resign so I do not have to be burdened with that issue.”
Faeldon’s resignation was accepted by the president on Aug 21, after the Bureau of Customs and several others were linked to the alleged P6.4 million shabu shipments in the country.
On the other hand, the public is still clueless on President Duterte’s conclusion for the Social Welfare chief vacancy; the president hasn’t identified who will replace the former Department of Social Welfare and Development Secretary Judy Tuguiwalo.
Tuguiwalo’s appointment was rejected by the Commission on Appointments.
It was also reported yesterday that there are two more cabinet secretaries that will be terminated due to “conflict of interest.” However, there are still no confirmation from the president.
