MANILA, Aug. 4 — Around PHP1.5 million have been released to members of the Armed Froces of the Philippines (AFP) who were wounded in the ongoing clashes with the Maute group in Marawi City.

According to Senior Deputy Executive Secretary Menardo Guevarra, the amount came from the more than PHP100 million cash donations for those affected in the conflict.

“Over PHP1.5 mllion have been been withdrawn from the bank and were given to our wounded soldiers,” he said during the Mindanao Hour Forum held at Conrad Hotel, Pasay City.

As of 2 p.m., August 3, Guevarra said, the fund amounted to PHP98,570,804.23.

Guevarra also reported that as of August 3, the number of rebels killed are 522, while the number of civilians killed by terrorists are 45.

Government casualties — killed in action (KIA) are 119.

A total of 1,724 civilians have been rescued and 600 firearms were recovered.

The Marawi crisis is on its third month since it started in May 23.
