MANILA, July 28 — Heavy rains and floods caused by the southwest monsoon which was intensified by Severe Tropical Storm “Gorio” has so far affected 183 families in eight Metro Manila barangays, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said in its 8 a.m. Friday update.
This is equivalent to 664 persons who are mostly residents of Valenzuela and Malabon City.
Affected families are from seven barangays in Valenzuela and one barangay in Malabon.
NDRRMC spokesperson Mina Marasigan said that 175 residents in Valenzuela and eight in Malabon were affected by the rains.
All of these families are currently being sheltered in government-operated evacuation centers.
Marasigan said alert status at the NDRRM Operation Center remains at “blue” to constantly monitor and ensure dissemination of weather and flood advisories to the public.
No fatalities and injuries related to the inclement weather were reported as of this posting.
