LOS ANGELES — Two months after his “Moonlight” pulled out a last-second best picture win at the Oscars, director Barry Jenkins says “it’s time to work.”

Jenkins was on the red carpet on Thursday to support the Netflix series “Dear White People.” He directed an episode of the series, adapted from the movie of the same name.

Jenkins said after the Oscars he spent a month in Mexico and went to the Mayan ruins.

Now that he’s back, he’s due to start working on an adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel “Underground Railroad” for Amazon.

He said he’s also still in contact with his “Moonlight” cast, which he calls his family. He says they sometimes ask for advice.
