“Naku, hindi po. I am not a star,” John Lloyd Cruz quipped when one of the guests came up to him to say that she had always watched him since his Tabing Ilog days and that she knew that young actor will be a big star someday.

Truly, it sounded like the John Lloyd that movie fans knew who is more serious about his acting than his standing amongst the many actors that hog the klieglights today.  Yet, whether he likes it or not, Lloydie has gone a long, long way from that first television series and has to his name multiple acting awards and box-office success.

Thus, it was fitting to treat equally star performers of Western Union’s remittance business with an exclusive afternoon of selfies and kuwentuhan with the young actor.

Greater Toronto area top remittance agents were feted to a sumptuous lunch and close encounter with its latest celebrity endorser, John Lloyd Cruz.

Highest performing and active dealers came to celebrate the afternoon at Oliver and Bonacini  fine dining restaurant at Yonge St. in Toronto last Nov. 26, on the eve of Western Union’s big event for the launch of its newest mobile money transfer app.  The app can be downloaded for free from Apple ITunes and Google Play.

Among the agents who graced the appreciation lunch were Aurora Cajucom of Tita Au’s, Mr. and Mrs. Myrna and Luis  Tiangco of Coco Banana Pinoy Food and Variety Store, Rachel Torres, and Lolita Betonio. They are the agents that consistently generate the highest transactions in the GTA area.

Among those who attended from Western Union were: Ms. Joycelyn David, John Chua, Chito Gonzalez, Annie Karasseferian, Olivia Verestiuk, Edward Hanson and Jenny Wang.

Same recognition must be given to the officers and staff of AVCommunications who successfully arranged for the appreciation lunch.

WU agents and officers had a great and cozy time amongst themselves and with JLC, who in consistence with his down-to-earth nature, asked to be instructed how to walk around downtown Toronto to enjoy the area himself.  But not too fast. WU’s John Chua decided to walk with him and his road manager instead. Safe to say that everyone, including Lloydie, had a nice time in Toronto for this gathering of star performers.
