MANILA – President Rodrigo Duterte’s working visit to Brunei, set for Sept. 4-5, has been cancelled following a deadly bombing in Davao City, a Palace official announced on Saturday.

“The Brunei is cancelled,” Communication Secretary Martin Andanar told the media through text.

The Philippine embassy in Brunei also announced the postponement of President Duterte’s first foreign trip since his election as president last May 9.

Brunei is part of the three-nation ASEAN working trip of the President.

He is also scheduled to attend the ASEAN Summit in Laos on Sept. 6-7 and will visit Indonesia on September 8-9.

The Palace has yet to decide if the Laos and Indonesia trip will also be cancelled.

A bomb explosion killed 14 people and injured 71 others at a crowded night market in Davao City on Friday night.
