MANILA – The Sandiganbayan has convicted whistleblower Rodolfo “Jun” Lozada, Jr. of graft over an anomalous land deal while he was still head of the Philippine Forest Corporation (Philforest).

Lozada was found guilty on one count of graft and acquitted on another graft case on the irregularities in lease of government lands. He was sentenced from 6 to 10 years in jail.

The anti-graft court gave Lozada 15 days to file a motion for reconsideration on his conviction.

The case against Lozada arose from the alleged unlawful leasing out of public land to his brother and a private company when he was the chief executive officer of Philforest.

According to Lozada’s camp, they will appeal the Sandiganbayan decision and file an MR.
