MANILA—The Commission on Elections (Comelec) sitting as National Board of Canvassers (NBOC) announced on Saturday that all the Certificates of Canvass (COC) and Statement of Votes (SOVs) from 82 posts worldwide are now in the country.
Commissioner Arthur Lim, head of the Office for Overseas Filipinos (OFOV), announced that all the 58 COCs have already been tallied.
“When I say completed the tally I mean all the Certificates of Canvass and Statement of Votes have been sent to NBOC they have been presented to the parties present for the consensus and authorized representatives,” he said.
Lim added, “Yan po ay nasuri nila, kadalasan nakuha nang picture, maayos po ang pagtally. Lahat po ng 58 COCs mul sa 82 posts worldwide ay nandirito na po, admitted canvass by NBOC.”
With this, the poll body official said they are likely to release the canvassing report of the votes of Filipinos abroad.
“NBOC will issue, I think by monday at the latest we will have the formal canvassing report of the OAV vote,” he added.
Earlier, the Comelec reported that the OAV voter turnout is 432,706 out of the 1,376,067 registered voters.
“A voter turnout roughly 40 percent the second highest since we implemented the OAV in 2004,” he said .
When asked if the OAV will have an effect on the tight race in the vice presidential post between Senator Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. and Rep. Leni Robredo, Lim said that it will be known when Congress, composed of Senate and House of Representatives, convenes as NBOC on May 25.
“The 432,706 votes, is it an important number as to how will this affect in the result in the VP elections? We will all know that after Congress canvass the result,” he explained.
